Frequently Asked Questions

When does season start and end?
The season usually begins the last weekend in February or first weekend in March and runs through May.

When are the games played?
Each team will play one game during the week and one game on Saturday. (T-ball will play one game on Saturday for the 1st half of the season.)

When are practices held?
The practice schedule will be up to the team manager. Typically the teams will practice one or two days during the week.

Where do we play?
While most practices are held at MLK fields, depending on how many teams we have in a division some teams may need to practice at local fields ie John Landes Park, Foussat Elementary, etc.

Most games will be played at Martin Luther King Park in Oceanside. The park is located on Mesa Drive between Rancho Del Oro and College blvd. The uppers divisions will play some games at other Oceanside and Vista fields due to interleague games.

How many games do we play?
All levels will play around 20 games a season except T-ball, which will play a 12-14 game season.

What equipment will my child need?

Your child will need his or her own glove, baseball shoes, cup, socks and pants. No metal cleats. Many of the players have their own bat and helmet, but this is not mandatory. Each team is issued bats and helmets for everyone to use. Catchers gear is also provided to each team. All bats must have a USAA stamp on the bat to be used.

What does the league provide?

The league will provide fields, umpires and uniforms (hat, and jersey) and insurance for each of the players.

Does the league provide any financial aid?
The league can provide financial assistance under special circumstances and will be evaluated on a case by case basis. You must contact the league for more information.

How are teams formed?

For T-ball, Farm and AA levels, the teams are selected based on school and geography. We try to create teams with players which live within close proximity to each other. For AAA, Majors, Intermediate and Juniors teams are selected through a draft process. After tryouts are completed, the league holds a draft for each league. During the draft, each of the team managers select eligible players from the draft.

Do I have to try out?

Try-outs are mandatory for all players wishing to play in AAA, Majors, Intermediate and Juniors. Those wishing to play in T-ball, Farm and AA do not need to try out.

What division will my child play in?
The league is comprised of 7 divisions: T-ball, Farm, AA, AAA, Majors, Intermediate and Juniors. Position in each division is determined by the players age and ability.

Can I request a coach?
You may request a coach for T-ball, Farm and AA only.

Can my child play with a buddy?
You may request to play together with a buddy for T-ball, Farm and AA only.

How do I get involved?
The league is run entirely with volunteers. We are always looking for people to help coach, umpire, snack bar support, sponsorship and much more. We also have board member elections at the end of each season for those who are interested. For more info on how you can help, please contact .
